Manual Lymphatic Drainage
The strokes applied in manual lymph drainage are intended to stimulate the movement of the lymphatic fluids in order to assist the body in cleansing. This is a gentle, rhythmical technique that can reduce inflammation, cleanse the system of toxins, enhance the activity of the immune system, reduce pain, and calm the nervous system. It is excellent for relief from post-surgery inflammation, sports injuries, and for prevention and treatment of Lymphedema. The most widely taught and generally accepted form of this technique was created by Dr. Vodder of Austria and requires advanced training and precise movements.
Oncology Massage
Oncology massage is the modification of existing massage therapy techniques in order to safely work with complications of cancer and cancer treatment. Anyone who has ever received cancer treatment, from those in active treatment to those in recovery or survivorship, as well as those at the end of life, are best served by a massage therapist who has received training in oncology massage.
Essential aspects of an oncology massage therapist's skill set are an informed understanding of the disease itself and the many ways it can affect the human body; the side effects of cancer treatments, such as medications, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation; and the ability to modify massage techniques in order to adapt for these side effects, as well as for the disease.

Myofascial Release
Fascia is connective tissue that surrounds and is a part of every cell, muscle, nerve, bone, and organ of the body. Fascial restrictions and adhesions, which have developed due to a lifetime of traumas large and small, postural adaptations, and inflammation, can place immense pressure on nerves and muscles, sometimes causing chronic pain. Myofascial Release is a very safe and effective technique that involves applying gentle, sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue with the intention of eliminating pain and restoring lost mobility. Rebecca's training in this technique has been through the John F. Barnes seminars in Myofascial Release.
Swedish Massage
One of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibration, percussive and tapping movements, all with the application of oil or lotion to reduce friction on the skin. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include general relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions and improved circulation which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injuries.
